Jim Witherington has been with SSM since its founding as a financial advisory firm in 1973. He has served as a trusted advisor to CEOs of hundreds of Southeastern growth companies. In 1990, Jim was an integral part of transitioning SSM to a principal investing firm and has led and served on the boards of numerous SSM investments.

Jim has previously served as the Board Chair of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, The Neighborhood Christian Centers, and the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation. Jim is an Elder at Second Presbyterian Church and currently chairs Second’s partnership with Arise2Read, serving four elementary schools in Memphis, focusing on 2nd grade reading skills. Jim previously served on the PDS Board from 1985 to 1990.

Jim and his wife Libby’s two sons are PDS alumni, and their grandson currently attends PDS.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Chicago
