Parents' Association

Welcome! As a parent of a PDS student, you are a member of the Parents’ Association. The Parents’ Association is a volunteer support group for the school and our strength lies in the support of our parents. There is no charge or membership fee to belong to the Parents’ Association.

There are many ways to “plug-in.” We host numerous events throughout the year – some are service functions and others are fundraisers for the school.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with our upcoming events, mark them on your calendar, and use the Volunteer Form to plug yourself in. Rest assured, a committee member will contact you for your help as the event date approaches.

Parents' Association Events and Volunteer Opportunities 

Accelerated Reader Auction (Chair – Dupree McDonald, Vice-Chair – JJ Keras) Volunteers are needed to assist with collecting prizes for the AR Auction (April 24, 2017) and to work at the AR Store (April 27–28, 2017).

Annual Fund Class Volunteers - (Chair - Susan Thomas, Vice-Chair - Susan Patterson ) Volunteers will work with the Chairs and the Advancement Office to help increase parent participation in the Annual Fund.

Berclair Elementary School Partnership (Chair – Darby Farmer, Vice-Chair – Laura Stafford) Volunteers are needed to gather and deliver school supplies (September) and to help implement Read for the Record (October) and the Angel Tree (December) benefiting Berclair students.

Book Fair (Chair – Christy Yarbro, Vice-Chair – Laura Russell) Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of Book Fair including decorations, teacher wish list tables and sales. This school-wide event is October 24–27, 2016 with set-up & Sneak-a-Peek the week prior. In addition, a Summer Reading Book Fair will be held during Field Day on May 5, 2017.

Community Rewards (Chair - Susan Patterson, Vice-Chair - Melanie Alexander) Volunteers are needed to help collect boxtops from classrooms and to assist in promoting the Kroger Community Rewards programs. More information

Crusaders Care (Chair – Lindsey Tayloe, Vice Chair – Anne Dunavant) Volunteers are needed to help PDS families in times of need. If a need arises, committee members will have the opportunity to provide meals, prayers and support to families going through a difficult time due to accident, illness, or injury.

Early Childhood Connections (Chair – Margaret Shivers, Vice-Chair – Laura Lee Jones) Volunteers are needed to help coordinate parent grade parties, help arrange meals for the teachers during EC family night and assist with special projects.

Faculty Appreciation (Chair – Amanda Ray, Vice-Chair – Jana Tayloe) Volunteers are needed to help coordinate and facilitate special lunches, birthday celebrations and treats for the PDS faculty.

Father/Son Event (Chair – Ali Fowler, Vice-Chair – Martha Hess) Volunteers are needed to assist in all aspects of this dinner for 3rd - 6th grade boys and their fathers. This event is currently scheduled for February 28, 2017.

Hospitality (Chair – Stephanie Hughes, Vice-Chair – Christy Carmichael) Volunteers are needed to serve as hostesses and provide food and drinks for various school events.

.Library Volunteers (Chair – Hart Kiser, Vice-Chair – Carrie West) Volunteers are needed to provide help in the library with processing books, AR searches and other general library duties. This committee would love to have you as much or as little as your schedule will allow.

March Mania (Co-Chair – Jennifer Russell, Co-Chair – Carey Snider) Volunteers are needed to solicit donations and sponsors, pick up donations, contact winners, help with data entry and more!

PDS Spirit Sale (Chair – Marti Mashburn, Vice-Chair – Courtney Stamps) Volunteers are needed to help set up and work the PDS Spirit Sales held throughout the year.

Sixth Grade Graduation Banquet (Chair – Morgan Zanone) Fifth grade parents are needed to help plan this event for sixth grade boys and their parents. The 2017 Sixth Grade Graduation Banquet will be held May 25, 2017.

Spring Luncheon (Chair – Anna Wunderlich, Vice-Chair – Jennifer Hobson) Volunteers are needed to assist in planning, hosting, and facilitating this spring event (April).

Treasurer/Cash Register Help (Treasurer – Emily House, Vice-Treasurer – Melinda Liles) Volunteers are needed to assist with taking in money for various events held throughout the year.
