Renshaw '07 Earns Perfect Score

Congratulations to Andrew Renshaw ’07 for acing the ACT.  Renshaw received the highest possible composite score (36).  In 2011 over 1.6 million students took the ACT and only 734 earned a perfect score.

Head of School Search

In June of 2013, the PDS Board of Trustees constituted a Head of School Search Committee, as current Headmaster Lee Burns offered his resignation as of the summer of 2014 to become the next Headmaster of the McCallie School, effective the summer of 2014.

The Search Committee is chaired by Mr. John Colcolough (former Chairman of the PDS Board of Trustees), and members include Mr. Pat Bassett, ex-officio, Board Chairman Mr. Don Batchelor, trustee Mr. Howard Graham, former trustee Mr. Larry Jensen, administrator Mrs. Cathy Kyle, trustee Mrs. Stephanie Linkous, alumni association President Mr. John Phillips, former trustee Mrs. Chris Sanders, trustee Mr. Steve Sansom, and trustee Mr. Duncan Williams. The Board of Trustees is responsible for hiring the Head of School.

The position description outlines the history, programs, community, faculty, financial situation of the school as well as the duties and qualities expected in a new Head of School.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees selects a Headmaster to direct, manage, and operate all aspects of PDS. The Board also sets policies on broad, strategic issues; develops and adopts long-range plans, and secures the resources for their implementation; assures appropriate stewardship of the school’s financial and other resources; and sets annual tuition and fees. They thoughtfully limit their engagement to these matters and leave all aspects of school operations to the headmaster.
