Band

Students in the Band program will meet two times each week in the following settings:

  • Small Group Instruction: Students will be placed in a small group with no more than four students. Students will learn basic techniques of the instrument, how to read music, and how to create a beautiful sound. These lessons will take place during the school day.
  • Large Group Instruction:
    • Our Beginning Band will meet between 3:15 and 4:00 pm. on Thursdays.
    • The Crusader Band (6th grade) will meet on Thursday mornings, 7:45-8:40 am.
  • There will be no conflicts for any boys who participate in athletics - including our Crusader teams. The large group meeting is designed to help the boys learn to follow a conductor, play in a large group, and to learn some exciting music.

5th Grade - The Seven Virtues of Manhood

At PDS, we want every boy to learn what it really means to be a man. That’s why we wrote The 7 Virtues of Manhood, which walks boys through each of the virtues and shows them what the virtues look like in daily life — at school, with friends, at home, and with God.

Each month, 5th-grade boys are reading that chapter for that month’s virtue — you can see what this month’s virtue is above.

Birthday Book Club

The PDS Birthday Book Club has served for more than twenty years as a way to honor your son on his birthday. It has strengthened our library tremendously. Thousands of books have been added to the library because of this wonderful program.

Boys enrolled in the club are given the opportunity to be the first to check out the new books chosen in their names. Shown in the front of the book is a special plate with the boy’s name and birthday. If you would like to place a book in the library in honor or memory of someone, it can be handled on this form, as well. This is a great way to remember teachers at Christmas or at the end of the year.

We request a minimum donation of $15.00 that should be paid in advance. Please fill out the form below and return it to the PDS Library with a check made payable to the PDS Birthday Book Club. Since this is a contribution, your gift is tax-deductible. For more information, contact Brooke Clement at 842-4641.
