We began this week with the 100th Day of school! The boys looked adorable dressed as 100-year-olds, and we had a blast with our “100 Day” activities. From making necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops to ordering numbers 1-100 to searching for 100 Hershey’s kisses hidden around the room, we had one hundred times the fun! Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make our day such a blast!

We have continued our study of coins this week, playing “Coin Bang!, coin hop, and coin sort. We also loved studying coins under a magnifying glass and investigating all of the features that make them different.

We are ready for spring and have discussed Puxatawney Phil this week, making our own predictions regarding whether or not he will see his shadow this weekend! We loved laughing along to Go to Sleep, Groundhog by Judy Cox. We had so much fun with our STEAM shadow activities using blocks, cubes, and flashlights.

Reminders and Looking Ahead:

Looking ahead to next week, we will focus on the letter Zz, continue studying coins, and begin our Red, White, and Blue unit on American symbols, landmarks, and presidents.

What an unbelievable week we have had in JK! We introduced the letter Uu and made our umbrella letter cards. We read “Aliens in Underpants Save the World” by Claire Freedman and did our handwriting Uu under the table!

We continued learning how to write numbers focusing on 6- 10 this week. We will send home the wording we use when writing each number. Please practice over the holiday.

Santa and Rudolph have been big topics this week as we prepare for the Christmas break. We read the book Santa’s Favorite Story by Hisako Aoki where he tells the story of the first Christmas.
