NEXT FALL’S SIXTH GRADE TRIP
September 11 – 13, 2020

Dear Fifth Grade Parents,

Next year’s annual Father-Son Sixth Grade Trip to St. Louis will be September 11 – 13. We will depart PDS on Friday, September 11th at 8:45am and return to Memphis on Sunday, September 13th at approximately 5:30pm.

We respectfully request that all attending fathers ride the bus with your sons both to and from St. Louis, and that you plan to be in attendance all three days. If you are unable to go, a “substitute”, such as a grandfather or uncle, may accompany your son.

Each father and son will share one room with two double beds at the hotel. The business office will bill you $875.00 for the cost of the trip. This will include two nights at the hotel, transportation to and from St. Louis and transportation to all events. It also includes tickets for the baseball game, Six Flags, Rec-Plex, the St. Louis Arch, and meals at the hotel. Additional money will be needed for food at the ball park, lunch on Saturday at Six Flags, lunch on Sunday at the St. Louis Zoo, and for any souvenirs or snacks you may want to buy during the trip. We are taking care of all reservations.

Please fill out the information below and return this form to your son’s homeroom teacher by Friday, January 24th in order to make your reservation. It is important that we have this information so that we can continue to make plans. If you have any questions, please call me at 901–842–4626.

Sincerely,

Dennis Smith
Director of Athletics and Operations

Dear Parents,

There has been a team name change that we wanted everyone to be aware of. The Spurs are now the Thunder. Otherwise, the schedule remains the same. Attached is the revised schedule with the correct teams. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks,

Athletic Dept.

5th grade parents,

Your boys received their 7 Virtues Of Manhood books today. If you did not get a copy of the book and a parent guide at the parent meeting last month, a copy of each of those is in your son’s backpack today for you.

Taking the time to go through this book with your son will have a big impact on him. Here are the things we mentioned at the parent meeting that will help make it the most meaningful:

  • Set aside a time for him for each chapter
  • See the schedule inside the parent guide
  • Read the chapter and discussion guide first
  • Make it special
  • Communicate with your son’s mentor when you think they can help your son with something
  • Memorize verses with him

You can also visit the site sevenvirtues.org for more information and don’t hesitate to reach out to me at anytime

In Christ,
Howard

Welcome back! We are excited to start the school year and are anxiously awaiting to see the boys again in the classrooms and hallways. Tomorrow is an exciting day for all of us!

We wanted to let you know that your son will be receiving his PDS laptop on Thursday, August 15th. Please help him to remember to bring his laptop bag (with the sleeve) to school Thursday morning. The computer has the same content filter as last year. The technology department will review the Responsible Use Policy on Friday with your son. Please look for the envelope containing these documents Friday afternoon.

If you have any questions, please email me at msmith@pdsmemphis.org.

Thank you.
