Reading: Mo Willems Author Study 

Math:  Addition to 10; Number Bonds; Subtraction to 10

English:  Adjectives: What is an adjective? How do adjectives help me write better sentences?

Social Studies:  What makes a city a city? What can we do to make our city a better place? How can we give back?

In Class This Week....

Spelling: compound words

Reading: Mo Willems Author Study; new book club rotation begins

Math:  Numbers to 10 using Number Bonds

English:  Subject/Predicate- How do subjects and predicates help me write sentences?

Social Studies:  What makes a city a city? How important are laws in a city?

Coming home today...

-Book Order-If you ordered from the book order, I am sending it home today! 

-"Shut The Front Door" sheet-We learned about open and closed syllables today. Let your son teach you all about it with the front door sheet he is bring home today. 

-Extra practice- There will be times that I send extra reading practice home. These are typically decodeable books or passages we practiced in small group. These can be counted towards reading log time and do not have to be done by a certain date. These are simply suggestions that help reinforce the spelling skill of the week. 

Things to Remember:

-Library is on Fridays! Please remember to send back library books on Fridays!

-Conferences-Thank you to everyone who has signed up for a conference. If you haven't, please take a second to sign-up. If you do not see a time that works, email me and we will work something out.

Here's what we are up to this week...

Reading:  Small groups and Book Clubs continue! Each book club has a specific book that group is focusing on. The boys are working on their reading fluency and practicing comprehension skills. Small groups are focusing on this weeks phonics skill, reading with expression, and continuing the Mo Willems author study.

Math:  Place Value

Social Studies/Science:  What makes a city?  We will finish building our city in the hallway.  

Writing: Writer's Workshop began last week!  Students are focusing on writing about true events that have happened in their lives. We call these small moment stories. The boys are focusing on narrowing down big events to small moments.
