Focus: ee, ea

Example Words:  leaf, team, speak, year, teach, feet, green, sweep, see, need

Red Words:  I'll, don't, high, good, after

-Field Trip- The first grade will  be taking a field trip on Friday, January 24.  We are going to The Pink Palace Museum. The boys will participate in the exploration lab, Rocks and Minerals.  This lab will enrich the boys’ learning during our science unit on Earth’s Materials. The boys will also attend a planetarium show as well to go along with our space study.  Please send a sack lunch and drink with your son’s name on it to school that day. Also, the boys will need to wear a red shirt that day.  Don’t forget the booster seat!

-Collections- We are starting a new unit in Writer’s Workshop about writing reviews. To begin the unit, we will be writing opinion pieces on different collections. We are asking that each boy bring in a collection of his favorite things (football cards, cars, balls, rocks, LEGOS, etc.). He only needs to bring in 5 examples of that item, and they should be small enough to fit into a small bag. Please have them in by Monday, January 13th.
